Parity Yes, But Isn't This Going a Little Too Far.... Upon first glance at this week's picks, you may think that I've become lazy, or have given up on the year; however, neither is true. In 13 out of 14 picks this week, I'm taking the favorites. When I looked at the lines this week, I just felt as though the teams are not nearly as close as Vegas thinks. Do you honestly think that Arizona would come within eight points of Pittsburgh on a neutral field? Can St. Louis stay within two touchdowns of the Cowboys without Steven Jackson, when they weren't able to do it against Tampa Bay with him? With Brett Favre playing some of the best football in his career and the Vikings' pass defense giving up over 240 yards per game, is there any doubt that Green Bay will win this game by at least a field goal? Of course, this is all coming from a guy who's two games over .500 this year. Picks appear in bold. Oakland (+4) at Miami Don't get me wrong, I think the Dolphins will win this game, but I have no reason to believe that either of them is three points better than anyone in this league. Houston (-3) at Atlanta If the Texans win big, and it's because of Matt Schaub, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Georgia Dome burned to the ground. Seriously, there were a lot of people in Atlanta who wanted him as the starter before this whole dogfighting mess. Baltimore (-4) at Cleveland If Jamal Lewis were even a shadow of his former self, I would tab this as a revenge game. Unfortunately, he's not so I don't see any reason to think that Cleveland will be able to move the ball and score on this defense. Chicago (-3) at Detroit Brian Griese is the only reason I'm taking Chicago to cover in this game. He's just not going to make the same bone-headed decisions that Rex did. Period. Green Bay (-1) at Minnesota "As far as I'm concerned, if you don't love Brett Favre, you can get the hell out of this country!!!" - John Madden, last week at a pro-cheesehead rally St. Louis at Dallas (-11.5) With the lack of protection he's getting this year and having to deal with DeMarcus Ware, I wouldn't be surprised if Marc Bulger simply retires midway through the second quarter. New York Jets (-3.5) at Buffalo If the Bills couldn't score with J.P. Losman, I don't think it's going to get any better with a rookie, Trent Edwards, guiding the offense this week. Tampa Bay at Carolina (-3) Every time these teams play, I always think about the two Panther cheerleaders and the "friendship" they shared in a women's restroom in Tampa a couple years ago. Now there's a matchup I would have paid to see. Now that I think about it, by watching the Playboy channel, I guess I do pay to see those kinds of matchups. Seattle (-1) at San Francisco The only thing that will hold this 49er team from the next level is Alex Smith. I just don't see the development, or ability, to make me think otherwise. Pittsburgh (-5) at Arizona I've heard people claim that the Arizona coaching staff has an edge this week because of their familiarity with the Steelers. Of course, it might matter if they didn't have to play the game with Arizona's players. Kansas City at San Diego (-11.5) This will be the week that LT and the Chargers get their season back on track - not even Norv Turner will get in their way. Denver at Indianapolis (-9.5) Seriously, the Colts will not lose a single game in the RCA dome this year. Philadelphia (-2.5) at New York Giants OK Eagles, I promise I'll pick you for every game until the end of the season. JUST DON'T WEAR THOSE UNIFORMS ANYMORE!!! THEY'RE FREAKIN' ME OUT, MAN!!! New England (-7.5) at Cincinnati Something tells me that with Chad Johnson present, Randy Moss will take this game as a personal challenge. Good luck with that, Bengal defense.
